I'll put this in my queue and take a look.  I think what is probably
going on is that this code was probably written before w3m was either
available or usable.  What will probably have to be done is to rewrite
the code so that it uses browse-url instead of w3 directly.  I have not
looked at it so I cannot be sure.

But this does leave you out of using the other search tools available in
the websearch code.
