Following up again:
Note that w3m out of CVS uses w3m-anchor -- not w3m-anchor-face
--- ditto for all other faces.
It aliases those face names to the old names, but Emacspeak' face
mapping code will not work on alaiases.
I renamed them in emacspeak-w3m.el because I noticed that I had
lost voice locking; so I'm mystefied as to how:
A) voice locking worked for you with the old names,
B) Why it doesn't work for you with the new names.
Here is the CVS repos from which I grabbed emacs-w3m:

And here is the output of cvs status on w3m.el:
