Hi Michal, the problem is probably with alsa. The vehavior you describe where speech is clipped at the beginning of an utterence occured in libasound2 1.0.16. In Debian, it was fixed in libasound2 1.0.16-2. I do not know about Fedora. If you cannot find an updated libasound (or maybe alsa-libs) package, you will have to recompile it yourself with the patch applied. I guess and hope the patch is also in libasound2 1.0.17.
