I had not noticed any issues with espeak until I needed to use it with emacspeak. When I did, the problem was resolved by re-building espeak to use pulseaudio rather than portaudio. I don't use orca or speech dispatcher and have found that espeak with emacspeak is pretty much unusable unless espeak is re-built with the pulseaudio support. > Did the steps I followed look correct? I also install espeak in the standard location i.e. /usr and not /usr/local. The only difference I can see between your setup and mine is that you are running vinux while I'm stock standard Ubuntu 11.04 and you have orca etc installed while I only have espeak. We seemt o be running the same versions of espeak and built/installed in the same ways. Tim > Thanks for your help, > rdc > > > > > > > Tim > > > > Robert D.
