OK, this did the trick. At what point should one not need to do this anymore? Like, at what version of emacs should this not need to be done? I ask this because I'm thinking of the package build script used with Arch Linux; if I were to stick that inside the build script, it might keep the real shr-url from being compiled when it really needs to compile.
