I do not use Voxin. On my Linux installations, I use espeak as the speech synthesizer. It's already there and I've gotten used to it. From everything I have observed, Voxin is a royal pain to get working regardless of what environment you are in. Anytime I read about someone having speech issues in Emacspeak or Linux in general, I'm about 80% sure the next few sentences are going to tell me about pain, heartache, misery and suffering caused by Voxin. Raman Cc: emacspeak@xxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Emacspeak: 32-bit TCL and TCLX for 64-bit systems Hello list, What opinions do people have about the value of dealing with the extra hassle of getting voxin going on a 64-bit system, as opposed to a 32-bit system, for somebody like me, whose paid work is text editing and transcription? Speech synthesis responsiveness is important, but not high-speed computing. Voxin is unbeatable in my opinion, so I do need that, but would it be worth the switch to 64 bits, or better to keep it simple? Rob TV.
