Is this specific to espeak or are you seeing it on Outloud or
Dectalk? For the record, those are the two engines I use -- I
find espeak too painful to use at this point. If the bug shows
up on all TTS engines, then there is likely some kind of leakage
in properties -- could be a font-lock bug (unlikely since others
would have noticed) or a bug on the emacspeak end.
Note that you can examine the properties under the cursor with
C-e M-v
control e meta v runs the command
emacspeak-show-personality-at-point
that might help you trace down the cause.
