OK, I have auditory icons working so I know that sounds can be played from emacs. What about the little introductory sound? I still don't get that when I start emacs. I included the toggle-auditory command in my startup file and that is working fine. This is obviously not critical but I used to hear it with my old system but lost it when I rebuilt my Arch Linux box recently. I have a vague memory about elpa but don't know enough about it even to be dangerous:). I have used emms in the past and it is available as a package from the Arch user repository (AUR). Thanks for the help so far. On Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 01:32:43PM -0500, Christopher Chaltain wrote: > This will toggle auditory icons on/off in the current buffer.
