Chris, I have emacspeak 38 on Debian jessie (unstable). This part of my terminal output of command "dpkg -S emacspeak|grep espeak": emacspeak: /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/emacspeak/lisp/espeak-voices.el emacspeak-espeak-server: /usr/lib/emacspeak/tclespeak.so emacspeak-espeak-server: /usr/share/doc/emacspeak-espeak-server emacspeak-espeak-server: /usr/lib/emacspeak emacspeak: /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/emacspeak/servers/espeakSo I cannot confirm the problem you mention. The binary files seem to live under /usr/lib, while scripts at /usr/share.

In emacspeak, the default location for speech servers is under /usr/share. This includes the binary speech servers, such as espeak and viavoice. According to the FHS, only architecture-independent files belong under /usr/share. Really, the architecture-dependent binary files probably belong somewhere like /usr/lib/emacspeak instead. Ideally, we should be able to specify the location of servers at build-time. May I send a patch for emacspeak to do this? -- Chris ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the emacspeak list or change your address on the emacspeak list send mail to "emacspeak-request@xxxxxxxxxxx" with a subject of "unsubscribe" or "help".
