I think read to end of buffer does not effect the cursor, this would be
a great feature if indexing were used to keep track of where we are and
when you stop the cursor would be right there.

You can also use read to end of buffer. Haven't used that one in a while so, I may be wrong but I think it's c-e b. You might want to spend some time exploring the emacspeak help documentation c-e c-h and a beginners tutorial on navigating through Emacs itself. It should answer most of your navigation questions.

This makes the speaking stop and I can navigate single words or letters. I am looking for a similar functionality in emacspeak. I think I cannot find anything similar in emacspeak manual. Did I miss something?

With my current knowledge it seems that I have to read sentence by sentence and press a command key for each sentence (moving the point explicitly to next sentence). I hope I'm wrong :)
