It's fairly easy to get an API key: Start at http://developer.bookshare.org/docs You'll need to sign in with your Bookshare account to get the key. Once you have the key, (keep it safe, ie dont give it to any one else since it's tied to your account) -- Use the Emacs Custom interface (M-x customize-variable) to set emacspeak-bookshare-api-key to this key -- it'l be a cryptic that is different from your passwd.
