Tim is correct, there is a dependency on calendar that I thought the compiler had resolved. I've added a (require 'calendar) to emacspeak-package.el to fix the issue for now. Background: Packages on archives like melpa use version numbers that are dates -- so you'll see foo-20150101 --- and hearing that spoken as foo-20 million ... is not useful. Module emacspeak-package.el uses some of the smart pronouncers in emacspeak-pronounce.el (that module already pulls in calendar during compilation). But it turns out that if you haven't yet loaded calendar in a running session, then the function calendar-date-string is unavailable at runtime. Victor -- no backtrace needed. --
