Speech Delay When Navigating Helm Buffers

Hi,

I'm using Emacs 26.1 on the Mac with the latest Emacspeak, with the helm configuration from tvr/helm-prepare.el in the Github repo.

When using <UP> and <DOWN> to navigate Helm buffers, there is a more-than-usual speech delay.

Is this normal? Is there a way to decrease this?
