Default speech rate in .emacs file

I am running Emacspeak with the eSpeak synthesizer.  I want to have the rate to be set to 250 at startup, so I have the following in my .emacs file:
(Espeak-default-speech-rate 250)
When I run emacspeak, I get an error that the espeak-default-speech-rate function is void.  I don’t know Lisp, so I got that code snippet from an Emacspeak tutorial.  What is wrong with that code?
