I currently use a small workaround for this.
Go to the utilities folder under applications on your mac. Make a copy of the terminal app.
I then renamed it to x86Terminal. Click on get info and tick the box to run under Rosetta. Now you can run that terminal and install brew. Now you can install the x86 versions of mplayer etc.
This does work but i do have some issues around how slow LSP is. But without an x86 machine to test against unsure whether its just how slow LSP is or the setup.
Hoping there is an apple silicon version of mplayer at some point.

Are you installing Mplayer as a cask or from source code? I have not touched this in a few months but think Mplayer may not work on M1 chipset just yet.

Hello, The issue I am seeing right now is that mplayer will not install. I can sort of use emacs with out emacspeak using voiceover but it is not very efficient.

Recently I moved to one of the new 14 inch macbook pros with the M1 chip. Does anyone know if it is possible to get emacspeak working on it? Emacs macport installed just fine but I cannot seem to get emacspeak to work.
