OK. So emacs will startup fine if your not trying to load emacspeak? Next things to verify. 1. How did you install emacspeak (tarball, git repo etc). 2. Are you trying to use the 'mac' speech server or 'espeak' speech server? 3. Have you set any environment variables to configure which speech server to use e.g. DTK_PROGRAM? My guess is that you are trying to use espeak and don't have a valid espeak instance installed. In the terminal where you run emacs try export DTK_PROGRAM=mac emacs and see if you get a better result. The other thing I would try is a 'make clean' before 'make config' and 'make' i.e. make clean make config make for emacspeak.
