[Emacspeak] Re: TTS on Mac Vanetura ...

Confirm there is no reason to use pulseaudio on Mac. The mac emacspeak server uses a python based server, which talks to the mac VoiceOver API. From memory, it is possible to build espeak on the mac and I guess in theory, you could use the espeak server as well, but then you would also need to install tcl and tcl and there is bound to be other issues to numerous to make this a really viable solution for any other than the curious who like a good challenge!

I would definitely remove pulsaudio if installed. It is more likely to be a source of problems than of any use.

Hi Raman,
you are probably right and I am not sure if I installed it on purpose or if it got pulled in by some other package. I only started using Mac a few months back and likely brought over some â??wrongâ?? habits from decades of Linux.
Does your emacspeak config script in some way check for pulseaudio and wires to it, even on Mac! If yes that might be a check to include otherwise it is some other issue due to changes from macOS 12 to 13.
