This is most likely due to an underlying audio platform issue -- and not directly to do with emacs. Try these in sequence: 1. Recompile the outloud server afresh 2. If possible, restart the audio server -- pulse if that is what it's using. I've seen this issue intermitently on Linux where I run ChromeVox in a separate window; there are times I've observed this behavior; especially after Chrome itself has opened some media site; in those cases, doing pulseaudio -k on Linux fixes the issue -- Thanks, --Raman(I Search, I Find, I Misplace, I Research) ♈ Id: kg:/m/0285kf1 🦮
