Hi Folks,
In mid June the emacspeak list will move from being hosted at
emacspeak.org to
emacspeak.net. This has not happened yet. But I wanted to let you know it is in the works.
Current plan is that on June 12th
mail.emacspeak.org will go off line. Then when Tim and I have the reconfigured machine all set and tested we will let you know. Hopefully by the next day.Â
I will send out a reminder a few hours before shutting down the server on the 12th.
We will move all the current addresses over so you will not need to resubscribe.Â
Once we have it all tested and working we will send out a "Welcome to the list" message from the new address. At that point you can go back to using it as before, but the address will end in ".net" not ".org".Â
At this time we will also be moving away from hyperkitty for the webbed archive and back to MHonArc. This should make the archive more friendly and easier for google to index and search. The archive may still be a work in progress when we bring the list back up. Our priority is minimizing down time for the list. I would hate for you to have to wait to post that burning voice lock question...
Why are we putting you through this hassle? Simple. I do not own the
emacspeak.org domain. I do own the domain
emacspeak.net. This gives us more control going forward. With any luck it will be the last change for many a year.
Wish us luck,
-Greg
