Hi,
I have been reading "HAL'S LEGACY: Online" a very intersting book
available on the web which looks at what HAL can do in the movie 2001
and where we are in being able to do that with current technology.
I found Chapter 6 "The Talking Computer": Text to Speech Synthesis by
Joseph P. Olive to be very interesting - especially because I was using
emacspeak to read it.
Anyway, the top page is at:
http://mitpress.mit.edu/e-books/Hal/
But it has image maps and a test for java. The "standard" version
starts at:
http://mitpress.mit.edu/e-books/Hal/contents.html
It does use tables for formating.
Enjoy,
Greg
