1) I've not tried tcl 7.3 on sunos or solaris -- try either
tcl 7.4 or tcl 8.0 --both of which work.
Also, one reason the script locks up may be because the
serial line has the wrong settings --
check this by doing a stty on the serial port you are
connecting to --do this *while* the tcl process is running
from a separate shell window.
