I successfully tested T.V. Raman's ftp solution this morning, and it
works. The ftp server on my system uses the /etc/ftpusers file to
preclude the users listed therein from gaining ftp access. This method of
editing system files from within Emacs is only a security risk if you have
not chosen a strong root password.
