I'll reply this time, but please see below for the future.
1) Please direct these postings to emacspeak@xxxxxxxxxxx
--if you are using the system you should be subscribed to
that list-- I simply cannot provide one on one support as
and when you need it.
2) Note that Emacspeak 9.0 was released a few weeks ago--
you should first upgrade.
3) The problem you describe sounds like a bad stty setting
--see the comments in the Makefile in the new release.
In short, the serial line where the speech box is connected
should be set to -echo.

Hi Raman,
I just installed emacspeak 8.0 on a Solaris workstation for a professor here
at UF. Its working but it is pronoucing too many characters. For instance when
you type a letter it says "space space space space" then the character. Also It
pronounces all puncuation which it was not doing in the previous version we were
running. This is annoying to the Professor who is using it. Can you help me to
customize emacspeack to get rid of some of these problems. If this is not clear
then let me know and I will try and explain the problem better.
