Linux distributions
In the past I've used the setup.tty that comes with slakware
with no trouble from emacspeak.
The menu based vt100 installers should work fine with
emacspeak inside a term buffer.
Personally, I still prefer to run the simpler shell-based
installers from an M-x shell buffer.
Bottom line: There is nothing distribution specific as far
as using Emacspeak is concerned--
also, your friend is not going to spend his/her time
installing packages on a daily basis if he/she is planning
to use a computer productively.
