When you say "load the doubletalk driver" do you mean the kernel
module or the tcl driver? From your original message it would seem you
mean the kernel module.

The doubletalk saying "doubletalk found" is only part of the puzzle.
It means that the kernel module is loaded and it found the device.  It
does not tell you that you have correctly set up the ports or
variables to allow emacs to talk to through the doubletalk.

Please perform the test with tcl as described in the Makefile.
