simple, allbeit not quite correct solution:
write a function which speaks a unit of text, moves point to after
that unit of text and iterate until stopped or end-of-buffer. (line or
paragraph or screenful, whatever gets the balance between stop/start
delays and reading too-large chunks of text.)
