Check out emacspeak-hide --provides many utils for hiding
blocks of text with a common prefix.
In vm while reading a message hit 'j' (mnemonic for junk)
to hide cited paragraphs --you will hear the first clause of
the hidden paragraph spoken in a softer voice.
