Emacspeak can be used with an accent if you also install my
emacspeak-ss package. You can get RPMs for your Red Hat system here:
ftp://leb.net/pub/blinux/
I believe the more specific URL is
ftp://leb.net/pub/blinux/emacspeak/blinux
