I mapped the windows key to send 
control x @ h --emacs then recognizes this as a "hyper key".

Alternatives are to map the windows key to switch between
virtual consoles --see the keymaps in .../i386/... in the
locations where the keytables are.

I've not found a way to use things like the power key on
Linux --primarily because they Linux doesn't even see any
scan codes when those keys are pressed. It may be possible
to program the keyboard to send out something that is
recognized by more than just the darkside --if you find out
how let me know.
