Have you told the emacspeak session that you want it to speak each
line as you go by it? This is different from asking it to read the
current line. Try "C-u C-e d l" to tell it you want it to turn on
line echo in all buffers. From the info pages:
`` control e d l ''
emacspeak-toggle-line-echo Toggle state of Emacspeak line echo.
Interactive PREFIX arg means toggle the global default value, and
then set the current local value to the result.
