W3-version 4, and 'mailto' url's

When I select a url of the subject type, I get an error message about
some symbol as variable being void.  I would like w3 to start a new
mail message to the address referenced in the url, from the address
specified in the variable 'user-mail-address'.  Any idea how I'd do
this?
