Hi folks,
As some of you may have noticed, Vassar has been having occasional
netowrk outages over the last few weeks. In addition, connecting to
the emacsepak archive at www.cs.vassar.edu or the files at
ftp.cs.vassar.edu has been horribly slow.
Just to let you know, Vassar will be tripling its bandwith within the
next few weeks. Also, Vassar is now using network shaping equipment
and will be reserving bandwith for incoming web connections.
What does this mean to you as members of the emacspeak list?
It means that the list should be more responsive. Messages will get
sent out faster. Also, accessing the archive will be faster.
All this, I am promised, will take place shortly.
Lastly, over the college's winter break I will be upgrading the OS on
the Computer Science machines. There will be some down time. Expect
this sometime after the first of the year, most likly the second week
of January. I will send out the exact dates once I know them.
Thats it for now,
Greg
