The Doubletalk LT connects to a serial port. Although serial support
is often compiled into the kernel it is possible that Red Hat is set
up to handle it with a kernel module. Other possible problems are:
permissions on /dev/ttyS0,
invalid setting of environment variables DTKwhatever, and
bad config file /etc/emacspeak.conf
