Jim:
It's taken me a while to reply. I've got package libstdc++2.10 as is
seen with:
$ sed -n '25267,25268p' /var/lib/dpkg/status
Package: libstdc++2.10
Status: install ok installed
and:
$ locate libstdc++\-
/usr/lib/libstdc++-3-libc6.1-2-2.10.0.a
/usr/lib/libstdc++-3-libc6.1-2-2.10.0.so
/usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.1-2.a.3
/usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3
Recent RPM's have been downloaded:
... 552960 Mar 30 09:50 /floppy/viavoice_tts_sdk_5.tar
... 1300480 Mar 30 09:48 /floppy/viavoice_tts_rtk_5.tar
I de-archived both tar files, then converted RPM to deb using "alien"
(without -d option, since -d is the default). Saw the usual warnings
and "successful" messages from alien, then installed both packages
with "dpkg -i".
Here's what program command-line-speak says (next three lines created
from one original line with Emacs command fill-paragraph):
/usr/lib/ViaVoiceTTS/samples/cmdlinespeak/cmdlinespeak: error in
loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory
It is looking for dot one dash one, whereas the file under /usr/lib is
dot one dash TWO.
At this point there seems to be two issues to resolve before viavoice
will work for me:
- mimic RPM install scripts, since alien does
- resolved "cannot open shared object file"
Any advice is much appreciated.
Regards,
