this might not be a good idea but here it is anyway:
add a confirmation code.
most mailing list now have you reply to the subscribe request - with
some sort of a confirm code in either the subject or the body of the message.
e.g.:
i send subscribe,
server sends back a message asking you to confirm,
and you send the confirm, with the random code, and
you're subscribed.
since as far as i know you can just subscribe from anywhere.
