I am so sorry ! not to have answered your message before !
The problem you mentioned come simply from something
not fully functional in efm. The rates are not implemented in
the same way they are for other synthesiser so you have to enter
values which
are not 380 or something like that but
from 0.5 extremely fast to 1.2 extremely slow.
DO NOT USE PREDEFINED SPEECH RATE
but only C-e d r
and then enter a speech rate value between 0.7 and 1.0
which are very reasonnable.
I MUST improve this bug in future versions of
efm.
