I am not sure how to answer, but you might also want to include the
version of emacspeak, the version of w3, and the system that you are
running it all on.

That being said, when I started using emacspeak, I tried using w3 and
was never able to get it working correctly. IIRC it crashed on more
complex sites, and using xslt to linearize tables was not the best
solution for me.  If you search the archives you will find a post by me
concerning making w3m work without support for tables.  You can also
