Yes, you would indeed call browse-url-of-buffer. As far as I can tell,
this function will save the buffer to a temporary file if no file is
associated with the buffer yet and then call browse-url-of-file. The
chosen filename does not end in html in emacs 21 but allegedly does so
in emacs 22 which I have not checked.
