Emacspeak and Dec express

Does anyone else have the problem that emacspeak and the Dec express is
quite slow at responding to anything? the pauses at commas and periods
are quite long, and the ends of inline commands get spoken. What version
of the dectalk firmware are you guys using? I'm running V4.2CD, the
latest I could find before 4.61. Is anyone successfully using this
server with good results and without the general non-responsiveness of
Emacspeak? I notice that Eflite responds almost immediately. Is this a
problem with my Dectalk, or something else?
