Hi Peter, My experience with SuSE ended with version 7.?. But I recall
an unfortunate soul who could not get Emacspeak to talk though the
speech server was working fine. Raman ended his misery by asking him
to check the permissions of the script /usr/bin/emacspeak,
this was parked there during install by the distro CD. A simple
chmod 755 cured it.
So maybe SuSE have decided that it is better to be discreet than look silly!
Cheers.
Kalyan
