Ok, I've gotten this to work, sort of. It can do things like change
speech rate and turn off character echo, that kind of thing. But it's reading a stack of extra
stuff, and I'm not sure why. For example, I hear something like
"np end of buffer" and other strings that I can't even reproduce
here. Any more suggestions?
