Twice, I have built and successfully run Emacspeak from the SVN
repository with no changes and with no reported errors.
The first time, I used code from 14 Aug 2006 and the second time code
from yesterday. Everything worked find with each morning's Emacs from
CVS on a Debian testing i386 system.
For yesterday's build, the information is:
Yesterday's GNU Emacs CVS snapshot, Fri, 2006 Aug 25 11:40 UTC
GNU Emacs 22.0.50.30 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.8.18)
Emacspeak 24.0 Revision 4074 from 2006 Aug 25 15:50 UTC
According to my notes, here is what I did:
# As user `bob'
pushd /usr/local/src
svn checkout http://emacspeak.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ emacspeak-svn
popd
pushd /usr/local/src/emacspeak-svn/trunk
make config SRC=`pwd` # took a short time
time make emacspeak # 4.3 min on 14 Aug 2006; 4.6 min on 25 Aug 2006
# as user `root'
pushd /usr/local/src/emacspeak-svn/trunk
time make install # 0.3 min
popd
