Dectalk firmware upgrades on the WWW!
If you're a Dectalk Express user you've probably run into the problems that
Emacspeak hits when used on a Dectalk Express with old firmware. In the past
I've often asked many of you to write to DEC asking for a diskette containing
the upgrade.
Well, those dark days are now past!
Thanks to Ron Jemma (Dectalk Group at DEC) for setting up the upgrades on his
WWW site.
Please visit

--you can download the latest firmware release.
I downloaded and upgraded my Express yesterday, and emacspeak works happily
with the upgrade.
There is one feature in the new release which is in itself sufficient to
justify upgrading --you can now ask the Express to go to sleep after a
specified length of inactivity.
