   Hi.
   I've spent the past few days battling with Minicom under Eterm, and 
   haven't been very successful. For some reason, none of the ctrl-A 
   commands speak well at all, and configuring my serial port has been a 
   nightmare. Furthermore, the dialing directory seems to stay open once a 
   connection is established.

   Since Minicom doesn't seem to want to cooperate, can anyone recommend 
   another terminal package? Or, is there a way to get Minicom speaking? 
   (Personally, I'd like to just stick with Minicom, but if there's a better 
   package out there then I'll switch. :)

Why not use C-Kermit?
Kermit has been ported to every mechine that exists and it is
extensible.

Minicom is a gui basically, an excellent gui; C-Kermit is a shell
like eterm, the shell in emacs.  Technically, a shell is a gui, but
what I mean is there are alot less graphical overhead for Kermit.

Try C-Kermit, its the oldest and therefore the most compatible communications
software.  
Kermit is continually updated as well, so don't think its "ancient" and
therefore "bad."
