Browsing WWW pages

Hello.
Today I downloaded W3 3.0.99 and compiled it. It loaded fine, but when I 
tried browsing pages I had several problems.
I first tried using the up/down arrows, but received a message that I had 
tried to edit an uneditable field, or something similar to that. :) I 
then tried using M-x emacspeak-w3-browse-page, but I couldn't get this to 
work, either.
Has anyone tried W3 3.0.99 with Emacspeak, or is 3.0.86 the latest 
version that will work? (I couldn't get 3.0.86 to compile, though 3.0.99 
worked nicely. :)
