Emacspeak on Ubuntu with TTSyth

Hello list!

I'm about to setup a Ubuntu with TTSynth and Emacspeak. I've heared
about some problems with this seutup, and I was told to use Ubuntu 8.x
with Emacspeak 17. Do you agree that this is the best solution, or is
it possible to use the newest versions of Ubuntu/Emacspeak/TTSynth out
of the box? Is there special instructions for installing Emacspeak on
Ubuntu?
