Emacspeak with Espeak on Ubuntu doesn't work

Hi all

I am an Emacs/Emacspeak beginner
I have decided to install Emacspeak 33.0 Stardog. The installation went OK
but when I try to play with Espeak the audio comes too late, or cuts a lot.
Does anyone have Espeak server working OK?

I have compiled Espeak to use Pulseaudio, routed the alsa sound to Pulse
in ~/.asoundrc
but nothing seems to fix the problem.

I have Ubuntu 10.10 distribution, AMD64 machine.

Any clue would be appreciated.
