I agree with Jason. I use espeak daily on a 64 bit xubuntu system and
the voices are not high pitched. There is occcasions where higher than
normal pitch is used, but that is only for certain
font-locking/voice-locking aspects and not for general text.

I would suggest trying espeak directly from the command line and see
how the voices sound. If they are still high pitched, then it is
likely an issue with yhour espeak installation. If they are OK, then
try just running the emacspeak sepak server and see if its  voice is
high pitched. If it is, then something is wrong with how that has been
built and if not, then the issue must be somewhere inside emacspeak.
In that case, I would start by removing all unnecessary configuraiton
options and see what happens. If the voices sound OK, start adding
them back one at a time until you identify what is the cause.
