hello:I don't want to highjack your thread, so I switched the subject line up a bit, but this has got me started anyway. I want to learn a lot more with emacspeak than I know currently, so here's a few questions. 1) You mentioned getting w3 up and running. how hard was this for you? Any chance you'd be willing to share some of the problems you came across? 2) I have a couple issues currently. I use a lot of setq and set commands in my .emacs configuration file. Is there a list of variables that would pertain to emacspeak and help me customize things a bit more? 3) Every time I close emacspeak, I get a message that processes are running. Can I disable this/make it force things to close like they should? 4) Any other ideas would be welcome. Any pointers for getting started, info on what else I can do with emacspeak. I know people use it for mail and the like, but I have no idea where to even begin in terms of getting that going.
Also, one final question. I do not have sound, but I know emacspeak plays sounds. Is there an external program I need for that?

Hi Raman, I've been attempting to get w3 working and while I've finally got it going, it was not trivial. I think part of the problem is that there has been no updates to the w3 repository since May 2008. I know there has been a couple of patches from you and others to fix various bugs, but hunting them down and applying them is not easy. On this basis, I wanted to make a suggestion. Would it be possible for you to do a diff against the current w3 repository code and the version of w3 you are running and put the diffs in a w3-patches directory within the emacspeak distribution. This would make it esier to anyone wanting to run w3 to apply the same patches you have been using. In addition to making it easier for users, it may help in tracking down problems as we will have a common base everyone is working from. regards, Tim
