Awesome, I appreciate the feedback. This looks a bit od, so I'd like to 
clarify that this is what I need.
        (flet ((process-list ())) ad-do-it))

As for the variables, I appreciate the advice there as well as 
everything else. I knew about the variable searching, but I'm not sure 
where to begin. the speech stuff is dtk, at least from what I've 
seen--is there other stuff as well?
